Today’s Gratitude Item: That the flag debate is over. Whilst I think changing the flag was actually a good idea the ‘new’ design was quite ugly so the fact that we kept the status quo is not the end of the world. Having said that, it is a pity that New Zealand is not yet ready to abandon the Union Jack (insert deep sigh here). I wonder when we (as a country) will finally ‘grow up’ and cut the apron strings with ‘mother’ England.
